Cotton hats… whether it is a smudge caused by a ballpoint pen or a splotch by more permanent dyes, it can quickly shift the focal point from the cotton hat to the stain. Fortunately, there are ways for the dirt to be removed with each method depending on the gravity of the stain. However, it is still a good idea to test it on a small patch to ensure that it will not cause further damage on the material.

Repeat the process with new pieces of cotton until the ink stain is completely gone.
