Silk Scarves and How To Make Them!
Silk scarves are universally appreciated and unique pieces of fashion accessory. They can be worn in a number of different ways to give distinct color to your personality every time. With so many uses of this garment, we all want to make it a part of our wardrobe.
Silk scarfs are usually a bit expensive to buy. But, there is no need to lose heart or become sad for here is good news for all scarf lovers. One can also make this fabulous piece at home just by following a few tips. It’s not really difficult at all. Wanna know how to make one? For making this accessory, you will require any bright colored silk charmeuse, sewing machine and a silk fabric ruler. You need to decide the size. If you want one in a square shape, then the silk cloth should be wide enough to be draped around your shoulders. However, if you want to have something rectangular, remember that it must be long enough to be wrapped around your neck at least 3-4 times. Once the shape has been finalized, we can now proceed to the procedure for making a silk scarves. Take ¾ yard of silk charmeuse and cut the piece into a 24-inch square. Now fold 1/8 inch along each edge turn by turn and use a medium heat iron to press the folds of the silk fabric adequately.
Repeat the same process of folding each edge under 1/8 inch along the four sides of the silk fabric. Also use the iron again to press the folds on all the sides firmly. You may also use pins to secure the folds along the four edges of the cloth, if you desire. You need to stitch the folded edges on all the four sides preferably using a sewing machine. However, you can also use sewing notions with matching thread to stitch the edges. Once you are done stitching on the four edges of the silk cloth, cut all the ends of the threads. Iron the garment for a crisp finished look.
